My Approach
Trauma Informed
I meet each client where they are, with an understanding that who we are today is impacted by the things that have happened across our lives.
Prior to opening Pattern Law, I worked directly with survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect. I spent 17 years focused on building the knowledge and skills to recognize trauma and support others in healing from that trauma in roles as a director of a rape crisis center, an attorney child advocate for children in foster care, and an attorney working with LGBTQ+ survivors of violence, discrimination, and harassment.
Empowerment Based
I start each client relationship with a belief that you know your life better than anyone else. My job is to offer my specialized skill and knowledge to help you live your best life, as you define it. In working with me, you will always be the leader, directing where we go. My jobs is to figure out how we get there and to take work off your plate.
Fierce, but Compassionate
I am not afraid of a fight and I have years of experience litigating contentious matters. I am aggressive, proactive, and skilled. But I also believe there is no reason to fight just to fight. There is a way to litigate aggressively, while showing compassion for the other side. I am strategic and kind in how I practice, knowing that in family law especially, parties are likely to interact with each other after a case is closed.
